Animations in Storydoc bring your content to life. Instead of static slides, your story flows dynamically as readers scroll. This keeps your audience engaged, emphasizes key points, and helps your message land more effectively.

You can animate almost every element in your story: text, highlights, charts, images, logos, layouts, and even running numbers. Below you’ll find all the animation options, step by step, with screenshots.

Animate text appearance

Adding animation to text makes it appear gradually, guiding your reader’s attention to what matters most.

  1. Select any text element on your slide.

  2. In the top toolbar, click Animation.

  3. Adjust:

    • Opacity – how much the text fades in.

    • Speed – choose between Slow, Medium, or Fast.

This is useful for headlines, section intros, or callouts you want readers to notice.

Highlight text with animation

Animated highlights make parts of your text stand out while keeping the rest subtle. This is perfect for emphasizing statistics, company names, or keywords.

  1. Select the text you want to emphasize.

  2. In the toolbar, open the Highlight settings.

  3. Choose highlight color and style.

  4. Toggle Animate the highlight to bring motion to the emphasis.

Readers will immediately see what’s important without losing track of the flow.

Animate charts

Charts become more persuasive when they build dynamically rather than appearing all at once.

  1. Select the chart element.

  2. In the top toolbar, click Animation.

  3. Turn on Animated chart.

Now, as readers scroll, your data lines, bars, or points will draw in smoothly, helping people understand the progression of your numbers.

Animate images and logo strips

Logo strips are a great way to showcase the brands you work with or partners you’ve collaborated with. Adding animation makes them feel more polished and helps each logo stand out as readers scroll.

  1. Select the logo strip container.

  2. Open the Animation settings in the toolbar.

  3. Set the direction for the animation (left, right, up, or down).

  4. Choose the speed (Fast, Medium, or Slow).

This makes your brand showcase slide more dynamic and visually appealing.

Animate entire slide layouts

Every layout in Storydoc has its own animation style. This ensures your content doesn’t just appear suddenly but flows naturally with the story.

  1. Click on the layout container (e.g., a testimonial block, feature grid, or team layout).

  2. Go to Animation in the toolbar.

  3. Customize the direction, opacity, and speed.

By applying subtle motion across layouts, you keep consistency while still creating a polished experience.

Add running numbers (counters)

Counters are one of the most eye-catching animation features. They start at a chosen value and run up to your target number as readers scroll to that section.

  1. Click Add ElementCounter.

  2. Place it on your slide.

  3. Set:

    • Starting value (e.g., 0).

    • Target number (e.g., 10,000).

    • Animation duration (e.g., 3 seconds).

  4. Pick an animation speed (Slow, Medium, or Fast).

This works best for traction slides, milestones, or KPIs where you want numbers to feel alive.

Best practices for animations

  • Keep it consistent – stick to one speed (e.g., Medium) across your story for a smooth experience.

  • Don’t overdo it – too many moving elements can distract. Use animations to highlight, not overwhelm.

  • Mix elements wisely – combine animated charts with counters and text highlights to create a balanced rhythm.

  • Think audience-first – animations should serve the story and make it easier to understand, not just look flashy.
