How to add and edit Images

Learn how to add, resize, crop, change shapes, and apply effects to images in your Storydoc presentations.

Images help make your Storydoc presentations more engaging and visually appealing. You can add images from multiple sources, resize them to fit your layout, and apply various effects to match your design.

Add an Image

  1. Select the slide where you want to place the image.

  2. Click on the Add an image button in the toolbar or click the + icon to add media elements.

  3. Choose your image source from the available options:

    • Stock images – Search and pick from the built-in library

    • AI Generate – Let AI create a custom image based on your content

    • My Files – Upload from your computer

    • Logo Finder – Access brand logos

    • GIFs – Add animated visuals

  4. Click on your chosen image to add it to the slide.

Stock images are automatically suggested based on your slide content, with AI matching relevant images to your text.

Resize and Position an Image

Once you've added an image to your slide, you can easily adjust its size and position.

  1. Click on the image to select it.

  2. Drag the purple resize handles around the image to adjust its size.

  3. Use the alignment options in the toolbar to position the image (left, center, right).

Crop an Image

The crop tool lets you focus on the most important part of your image and adjust the visible area.

  1. Select your image and click Crop in the toolbar.

  2. In the crop editor, drag the selection area to choose which part of the image to display.

  3. Use the additional controls at the bottom:

    • Shape – Choose between Free form, Square, or Circle crop areas

    • Zoom out/Zoom in – Adjust the image scale within the crop area

    • Rotate – Rotate the image as needed

    • Flip horizontally/vertically – Mirror the image

  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Change Image Shape

You can transform your image into different shapes beyond the standard rectangle.

  1. Select your image and click Shape in the toolbar.

  2. Choose from the available shape options:

    • Default – Standard rectangular shape

    • Square – Perfect square proportions

    • Circle – Circular crop

    • 16:9 – Widescreen rectangle

    • Blob – Organic, flowing shapes with multiple variations

    • Parallelogram – Angled rectangular shapes (left or right)

    • Freeform – Custom proportions you can adjust manually

Add Effects and Styling

Enhance your images with visual effects and styling options.

Radius and Shadow

Add visual depth and style to your images:

  • Radius – Choose from None, Small, Medium, or Large corner rounding

  • Shadow – Apply None, Smooth, or Flat shadow effects

Use AI to Change Images

Replace your current image with AI-powered suggestions:

  1. Click Use AI in the toolbar.

  2. Review the AI-generated image suggestions based on your content.

  3. You can also create custom prompts or open the full image library.

Edit an Image

Click Edit image to access advanced editing options. From the edit panel you can:

  • Change image – Replace it with a different file

  • Color overlay – Add a colored filter over your image with adjustable opacity

  • Black and white filter – Convert the image to grayscale

  • Reset changes – Restore the image to its original state

Notes and Tips

  • Image uploads support JPG, PNG, GIF, or SVG formats with a maximum file size of 30 MB.

  • AI automatically suggests relevant stock images based on your slide content and text.

  • Use the freeform shape option when you need complete control over image proportions.

  • Color overlays work great for creating consistent visual themes across multiple images.

  • For immersive visuals, consider using a full-screen image slide instead of placing the image as a standard element.
