Payment & Proration FAQ

Managing your Storydoc subscription sometimes means making changes mid-cycle, like upgrading your plan or adjusting user seats. Here’s what you need to know about how payments and proration work.

Will I be double charged if I upgrade my plan?

No. When you upgrade from one plan to another (for example, from Starter to Pro), you’ll only be charged the difference between the two plans. The system automatically calculates and applies the prorated cost, so you’re never billed twice for the same period.

What happens if I add or remove users?

  • Adding users: Each new user seat requires a subscription. Once you add a user to your workspace, they become a billed seat. The cost is added immediately, and your subscription will reflect the additional seat from that point forward.

  • Removing users: If you remove a user mid-cycle, Storydoc applies proration. The unused time on that seat will be credited toward your next billing cycle.

What if I want to downgrade my plan?

Downgrades are not automatic. If you’d like to downgrade your plan, please contact our support team, and we’ll help you adjust your subscription accordingly.

What happens if I pause or cancel my account?

If you pause or cancel, your account will remain active until the end of your current paid period, regardless of when you make the change.

  • On a monthly plan, you’ll keep access until the end of the current paid month.

  • On an annual plan, your account will stay open until your original renewal date. You won’t be charged for the next year, but you can continue using Storydoc until the period you already paid for ends.
