Once you've created your Storydoc, you have two main sharing options: a generic link that works for all viewers, or personalized versions that create unique links with custom data for each recipient. The choice depends on whether your story contains dynamic variables and how targeted you want your sharing to be.
Understanding Your Sharing Options
Before sharing, Storydoc analyzes your content to determine the best sharing approach. If your story contains dynamic variables (like company names or personalized content), you'll see options for both generic and personalized sharing.
When you click Share in the top-right corner, Storydoc automatically generates a preview image and offers you the appropriate sharing methods based on your content.
Share with a Generic Link
The generic link is perfect for broad distribution when you don't need personalization. This single link works for all recipients and maintains all interactive features.
If your story contains dynamic variables, you'll see a note that sharing a live link will leave those variables blank. To keep them filled, you'll need to create a personalized version instead.
For your generic link, you can:
Copy the link for pasting anywhere
Copy the live link for direct sharing
Copy email preview for rich email formatting
Copy test link for preview without analytics tracking
Share via social platforms and embed options
Customize Your Link Preview
Control how your Storydoc appears when shared by customizing the preview image and details.
Click Change preview to:
Generate a new preview image automatically
Create a preview GIF for more engaging previews
Upload your own custom preview image
Making Your Link Live
Control whether your generic link is accessible to viewers. You can make it live so anyone with the link can access your Storydoc, or block access entirely. This can be changed at any time, even after you've already shared the link.
Available advanced options include:
Access control: Choose between "Can view" (anyone with link) or "No access" (disable the link)
Protect with password: Restrict access with a password only your recipients can use
Request reader details: Collect reader info and track engagement individually
Expire date: Automatically disable access after a set date
Share with Copying Options
Access multiple sharing formats through the copy menu for maximum flexibility across different platforms.
The copy menu provides:
Copy live link: Share a direct link to your story
Copy email preview: Get an email-ready link with a preview
Copy test link: Preview the version with no analytics tracked
Social sharing: Direct sharing to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms
Create Personalized Versions
When you need to send customized versions to different recipients, create personalized versions that fill in dynamic variables with specific data for each viewer.
Click Create version to:
Add a version title (like the recipient's name or company)
Fill in values for any dynamic variables in your story
Set advanced settings like password protection or expiry dates
Generate a unique link for that specific version
Manage Multiple Versions
Keep track of all your personalized versions in one central location. Each version gets its own preview and can be managed independently.
From the versions panel, you can:
View all created versions with their custom previews
Create new versions with the + New version button
Access bulk creation options for scale
Scale Your Personalization
For high-volume sharing, use the bulk creation options at the bottom of the personalized versions panel.
Create versions at scale through:
Automations: Set up automated version creation triggered by external events
Upload CSV: Bulk generate versions from a spreadsheet of recipient data
Connect your CRM: Automatically create personalized versions from your CRM contacts
Export to PDF
Convert any version of your Storydoc to PDF for offline sharing or archival purposes.
To export your Storydoc:
Navigate to the Export to PDF tab
Choose your layout preferences (multi-slide or all slides)
Select quality options like high-quality images or screen optimization
Click Download PDF to generate your file
Note: Interactive content and videos won't work in static PDFs. For full functionality, use the share option instead.
