How to Use the Crop and Shape Tools in Storydoc

Storydoc gives you two quick ways to adjust your images: Crop and Shape. Both help you control how your image is displayed within your slide, but they serve different purposes.

Crop: Adjust What’s Visible in Your Image

Use the Crop tool to zoom in or reframe an image without changing its shape.

  1. Click on your image in the editor.

  2. Select Crop from the top toolbar.

  3. Drag the zoom slider or reposition the image inside the frame to focus on a specific area.

  4. Click the checkmark (✔) to save your changes.

Tip: Use this when part of your image is cut off or when you want to highlight a particular section.

Shape: Change the Frame of Your Image

Use the Shape option to change how your image is displayed—rectangle, circle, or free form.

  1. Click on your image in the slide.

  2. Select Shape in the top toolbar.

  3. Choose a shape from the available options:

    • Default (original frame)

    • Rectangle

    • Circle

    • Free form for custom proportions

  4. Click Reset changes to revert to the original shape if needed.

Tip: Choose Free form for flexible resizing, or Circle to create profile-style images.

Key Difference

  • Crop changes what part of the image is visible.

  • Shape changes how the image is displayed on your slide.

You can use both together to perfect your image placement and design.
