How the Integration Works
When a specific condition is met on your Monday.com board (like a status moving to "Qualified"), Storydoc triggers an automation. It pulls data directly from your board columns, like names, company titles, or deal values, and injects them into dynamic variables within your Storydoc template. The result? A perfectly tailored deck, created in seconds.
Setting Up the Integration
Step 1: Access Monday.com Automations
Open your Monday.com board and click Automate in the top menu.
Navigate to the Automations Center.
Search for Storydoc.
Step 2: Configure Your Automation Trigger
Define your trigger (e.g., "When Status changes to MQL").
Select Create a Storydoc version as the resulting action.
Step 3: Connect Your API Key
If this is your first time, you’ll need to shake hands between the two platforms.
Click the API Token field.
Paste your Storydoc API key. (You can find this in your Storydoc Settings → API).
Click Connect.
Note: This is a one-time setup. We’ll remember your key for all future automations.
Step 4: Configure the Action Settings
Now, tell the automation exactly what to build:
Storydoc Template: Pick the live story you want to use as your base.
Sender Email: Enter the email of a registered Storydoc user in your account.
Version Title: Create a name for this version. You can type text or use the "plus" icon to pull in Monday column values (e.g., "Proposal for {Item Name}").
Days to Expire: Set a deadline for the link or leave it blank ("0") for permanent access.
Step 5: Map Your Variables
This is where the personalization happens. You can map up to 8 variables:
Variable Name: Type the exact name of the variable as it appears in your Storydoc editor (e.g.,
first_name).Variable Value: Drag and drop the corresponding Monday column (e.g., the "First Name" column).
Step 6: Save and Activate
Review your mapping to ensure the right data is going to the right place.
Click Update Automation.
Toggle the automation to On.
Testing Your Integration
Go to your Monday board and trigger the condition (e.g., flip a status to "MQL").
Wait a few seconds for the digital gears to turn.
Head over to your Storydoc account. You should see a shiny new version sitting under your chosen template, fully populated with your board’s data.
