When you share a story or version with prospects, you can require viewers to provide their contact information before accessing the content. This feature helps you capture leads and track engagement while controlling access to your presentations.
How Request Reader Details Works
Request reader details creates a gate that appears before viewers can access your story or version. Viewers must fill in the required information fields you specify before they can continue to view the content.
This feature is useful for:
Lead generation and qualification
Tracking who views your presentations
Building contact databases from story engagement
Controlling access to sensitive or valuable content
Setting Up Reader Details for Your Story
To enable reader details collection for your main story:
Open your story in the editor
Click the Share button in the top navigation
Navigate to the Share tab in the dialog that opens
In the Advanced options section, locate Request reader details
Toggle the switch to enable this feature
Configuring Reader Information Fields
Once you enable request reader details, you can customize what information to collect and customize the experience:
Message: Add a custom message that viewers will see, such as "Please fill the information below to get an access."
Company Logo: Toggle to show or hide your company logo on the access form.
Fields to Display: Choose which information fields to request:
Name - Viewer's full name
Email address - Viewer's email
Position - Viewer's job title or role
For each field, you can set whether it's required or optional by using the checkbox and toggle controls.
Click Save changes to apply your settings to the story.
Customizing Settings for Specific Versions
When you create personalized versions of your story, you can override the main story's reader details settings for each version individually.
Navigate to the version you want to customize
Click Edit version settings from the version options
Go to the Share tab
Modify the Request reader details settings as needed
Click Save changes
Version-specific settings will override the main story settings only for that particular version.
The Viewer Experience
When someone clicks your story link, they'll see an access form before they can view the content.
Viewers must fill in all required fields and click Continue to proceed to your story. Once they complete the form, they gain full access to view the presentation.
Request Reader Details for All Stories and Versions
You can also configure Request reader details as a default setting for all newly created stories and versions across your organization. To set default reader detail preferences:
Go to Organization settings
Click on Sharing options
Locate the Request reader details section
Once configured, these settings will automatically apply to all newly created stories and versions, helping your team maintain a consistent lead capture and sharing experience without needing to configure each story individually.
Best Practices
Keep required fields to a minimum to reduce friction while still capturing essential information
Use clear, professional messaging that explains the value viewers will receive
Consider making email required and other fields optional for better conversion rates
Customize settings per version when sharing with different audience segments
