How Request Reader Details Works

Learn how to gate your content by requesting the readers' details.

Written by Jack

When you share a story or version with prospects, you can require viewers to provide their contact information before accessing the content. This feature helps you capture leads and track engagement while controlling access to your presentations.

How Request Reader Details Works

Request reader details creates a gate that appears before viewers can access your story or version. Viewers must fill in the required information fields you specify before they can continue to view the content.

This feature is useful for:

  • Lead generation and qualification

  • Tracking who views your presentations

  • Building contact databases from story engagement

  • Controlling access to sensitive or valuable content

To enable reader details collection for your main story:

  1. Open your story in the editor

  2. Click the Share button in the top navigation

Request Reader Details for All Stories and Versions

You can also configure Request reader details as a default setting for all newly created stories and versions across your organization. To set default reader detail preferences:

  1. Go to Organization settings

2. Click on Sharing options

  3. Locate the Request reader details section

Once configured, these settings will automatically apply to all newly created stories and versions, helping your team maintain a consistent lead capture and sharing experience without needing to configure each story individually.

Best Practices

  • Keep required fields to a minimum to reduce friction while still capturing essential information

  • Use clear, professional messaging that explains the value viewers will receive

  • Consider making email required and other fields optional for better conversion rates

  • Customize settings per version when sharing with different audience segments
