Written by Jack

Embedded tools allow you to add interactive elements to your Storydoc presentations, creating engaging experiences for your viewers. You can embed videos, forms, maps, attachments, and custom code elements directly into your slides.

Available Embedded Tools

To add an embedded tool to your story, look for the Add an embedded tool button in the Elements panel on the right side of your screen.

Storydoc offers six types of embedded tools:

  • Video - Embed YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, or Vidyard videos

  • URL - Embed interactive websites or other web content

  • Form - Add interactive forms from Google Forms, Typeform, and other platforms

  • Attachment - Include downloadable files or viewable documents

  • Map - Embed interactive maps

  • Code - Add custom HTML code for advanced integrations

Adding Video Elements

Drag and drop the Video element onto your slide. You'll see a placeholder that you can customize by clicking Edit Video in the toolbar.

You can replace the placeholder with files from your computer or links to YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, or Vidyard videos. The toolbar provides all the same settings available for regular video elements.

Embedding URLs and Websites

The URL element lets you embed interactive websites or other Storydoc presentations directly into your slide. After dragging the element to your slide, click Edit Code in the toolbar to configure it.

Including File Attachments

The Attachment element allows you to include various file types such as PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and more. Click Edit Content to upload your file.

For the best user experience, choose the Document view when uploading PDFs or presentations. This allows viewers to see and interact with the entire document within your slide, rather than just downloading it.

Embedding Maps and Custom Code

The Map element comes with a default Google Maps embed, but you can replace it with any map service by editing the embed code. The Code element offers unlimited possibilities for custom integrations.

    Customizing Embedded Elements

All embedded tools share common customization options:

    • Resize - Drag the corner handles to adjust width and height

    • Align - Use the toolbar to position elements on your slide

    • Shape - Choose from Default, Rectangle, or Freeform layouts

    • Advanced settings - Access additional styling options in the toolbar

The Freeform option is particularly useful for documents that need custom aspect ratios for optimal readability.

Embedded tools make your Storydoc presentations more interactive and engaging, allowing you to create comprehensive experiences that keep your audience engaged throughout your story. By being able to embed iframe code, you have the freedom to display any interactive element you want, giving you the freedom to customize and create highly engaging decks.
