How to Create a Story from Blank

Creating a story from blank gives you complete creative control over your presentation. You start with an empty canvas and can add any elements you need to build your story from the ground up.

Step 1: Navigate to Create New Story

In your Storydoc workspace, go to the Stories section in the left sidebar. Click the Create new story button in the top right corner of the page.

Step 2: Choose Start from Blank

A dialog box will appear with story creation options. In the Name field, enter a descriptive title for your story. You can also select a folder to organize your story if needed.

Step 3: Start Building Your Story

Once created, you'll be taken to the Storydoc editor with a blank slide ready for customization. The editor provides a clean canvas where you can begin adding your content.

Adding Content Elements

To add content to your blank slide, you have several options available in the center of the slide:

  • Text - Add headings, paragraphs, and formatted text

  • Image - Upload photos, graphics, or logos

  • Video - Embed videos or upload media files

  • More - Access additional elements and interactive components

Click the More option to see additional elements you can add to your slide, including icons, tables, charts, buttons, calendars, and other interactive components.

Adding New Slides

To expand your story beyond the first slide, click the New slide button in the left panel. This gives you access to different slide creation options:

  • Blank slide - Create another empty slide

  • My slides - Reuse slides from your saved collection

  • Team slides - Access slides shared by your team

  • Layouts - Choose from pre-designed slide structures

  • Templates - Select from professional slide templates

Customizing Slide Background and Layout

You can customize your slide's appearance using the toolbar options at the top of the editor. These include background settings, colors, height adjustments, and alignment tools to perfect your slide design.

Starting from blank gives you the flexibility to create exactly what you envision without being constrained by pre-existing layouts or content structures. Take advantage of the various elements and customization options to build a story that perfectly matches your needs.
