How to Use the Carousel Layout in Storydoc

Learn how to add, edit, and style a Carousel layout in your Storydoc presentation.

Written by Jack

The Carousel layout lets you present multiple points in an interactive, swipeable format — perfect for showcasing a series of features, steps, or visual stories. Viewers can click through each point at their own pace, making your content more engaging and digestible.

Adding a Carousel Layout

To insert a carousel into your story, look to the right side of the editor and click Add a content block. From the list of available layouts, select Carousel.

The default carousel layout places a text area on the left and a media element (image, text, or video) on the right. You can add whichever element type fits your content by clicking Text, Image, Video, or More in the element picker.

Customizing the Layout with Drag and Drop

You're not locked into the default side-by-side layout. You can drag and drop the sections inside the carousel to reorder them. For example, you can place the image on the left and the text block on the right.

When you click into a section, you'll see element-specific options in the toolbar at the top — such as alignment, style, width, animation, and more.

Adding Content to Each Point

Each carousel "point" represents one slide within the carousel. To add an image, click the Image button in the element picker. A media library will open on the right, where you can choose from stock photos, AI-generated images, your own files, or GIFs.

Once your image is selected, click into the text area and type your content directly. You can use the toolbar at the top to format the text — change the style, size, alignment, add bold or italic formatting, and more.

Navigating Between Points

To move to the next carousel point and start editing it, click the right arrow button on the carousel itself, or use the navigation arrows in the carousel toolbar at the top of the block.

You'll see dot indicators at the bottom of the carousel showing how many points exist and which one you're currently editing. Each point can have its own unique image, video, or text content.

Adding and Deleting Points

To add a new point to the carousel, click + Add point in the carousel toolbar. You can also duplicate an existing point by using the arrow controls next to "Add point."

To delete a point, navigate to that point and click the Delete button that appears on the right side of the carousel block.

Styling the Carousel

Click on the carousel block to reveal styling options in the top toolbar. You can control:

  • Align — Set the horizontal alignment of the carousel content (Left, Center, or Right)

  • Style — Switch between Regular and Full screen display modes

  • Container — Choose between a side-by-side layout or a stacked layout for the content inside each point

  • Width — Adjust how wide the carousel appears on the slide

The Style panel open, showing Regular and Full screen options plus Container layout choices, with the carousel displaying in full screen mode

Switching to Full screen style makes the carousel take up the entire slide width, creating a more immersive experience for your viewers.

How It Looks for Viewers

When your story is shared, viewers will see the carousel with navigation arrows on either side. They can click through each point at their own pace, exploring the content you've built into each slide.
