How to connect Fathom to Storydoc

Learn how to connect Fathom to Storydoc and use meeting data to auto-personalize your presentations

Written by Jack

What is the Fathom Integration?

Storydoc's Fathom integration lets you pull meeting data directly from Fathom — your AI meeting recorder — and use it to personalize your presentations automatically. Instead of manually copying meeting recaps or notes into your deck, you can insert Fathom variables that populate with real content when you create a personalized version.

This is especially powerful for sales teams who want to send a tailored follow-up proposal right after a discovery call, with the prospect's meeting recap, key takeaways, and personal notes already filled in.

Where to Find the Fathom Integration

To connect Fathom, go to Integrations in the left-hand navigation of your Storydoc workspace.

The Integrations page showing all available CRM and tool integrations including HubSpot, Salesforce, Gong, and others

You'll see Fathom listed alongside Slack. If Fathom is already connected, it will show an Active badge and a Disconnect button. If it's not yet connected, you'll see a Connect button instead.

The Other tools tab showing Fathom and Slack both connected with Active status

Follow the authorization steps to link your Fathom account.

Once the integration is active, Fathom variables will become available inside the Storydoc editor and in the personalized versions flow.

Using Fathom Variables in Your Story

After connecting Fathom, you can insert Fathom-specific variables directly into any text element in your story. This allows meeting data — like the recap or key takeaways — to appear automatically when you share a personalized version.

To add a Fathom variable to a text element, click on the text you want to personalize, then select Variables from the toolbar. A panel will appear with three tabs: Storydoc, HubSpot (if installed, or other integration that you have), and Fathom.

The Variables panel open in the editor showing the Storydoc, HubSpot, and Fathom tabs with a list of Storydoc variables

Click the Fathom tab to see all available Fathom variables. These include:

  • First name – the prospect's first name from the meeting

  • Last name – the prospect's last name

  • Company name – the prospect's company

  • Next steps summary – a summary of agreed next steps

  • Personal note – a custom note from the meeting

  • Meeting recap – a full recap of the meeting

  • Key takeaways – the main points from the meeting

Click on any variable to insert it into your text. It will appear as a placeholder like {{fathom.meeting_recap}} in the editor, and will be replaced with real content when you create a personalized version.

Creating a Personalized Version with Fathom Data

Once your story contains Fathom variables, you can use the Personalized versions flow to populate them with data from a real Fathom meeting. Open your story in the editor, then click the Share button and go to the Personalized versions tab.

The Create a new version dialog showing the Version title field, Auto-enriched data section, Fathom data section with a Fathom link input field, and Additional variables section

In the Create a new version panel, you'll see a dedicated Fathom data section. Here's what you can do:

  • Add a Fathom link – click the input area to open a list of your latest meetings and select one directly, or paste the URL of a specific Fathom meeting recording.

  • Click Import data.

You'll also see an Auto-enriched data section that pulls contact details (like company name and first name) from HubSpot if that integration is also connected. This means your presentation can be personalized with both CRM contact data and Fathom meeting content at the same time.

Once all fields are filled in, click + Create version to generate the personalized story. Storydoc will replace all variable placeholders with the actual Fathom meeting data, ready to send to your prospect.
