The Storydoc MCP integration lets you use ChatGPT (or any MCP-compatible AI tool) to create Storydoc presentations and retrieve account analytics — all through natural conversation. No need to open the Storydoc editor; just describe what you want and let the AI handle it.
This article walks you through connecting Storydoc to ChatGPT and shows you what you can do once it's set up.
Step 1: Get your Storydoc API token
To connect Storydoc to ChatGPT, you'll need an API token from your Storydoc account. Go to your Storydoc workspace settings and navigate to the integrations or API section to generate a token.
Copy the token — you'll paste it into the connection screen in the next step.
Step 2: Connect Storydoc to ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, open the Plugins section from the left sidebar. This is where you manage connected tools and MCP servers.
You'll be taken to a "Connect to Storydoc" screen. Paste your Storydoc API token into the Storydoc API token field.
You can also add a Default sender email (optional). This is the email address new stories will be sent from. Leave it blank if you'd prefer to be asked each time.
Once you've filled in the details, click Connect.
Step 3: Create a Storydoc story from ChatGPT
Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT to create a Storydoc presentation using plain language. For example, type something like:
"create a storydoc proposal for Sarah Chen from Nike.com"
ChatGPT will start working — it searches your available Storydoc templates and picks the best match for your request.
After a few seconds, ChatGPT will present you with a plan: the template it's chosen, the recipient name, and the story title. It'll ask you to confirm before creating anything.

Step 4: Pull analytics from your Storydoc account
You can also ask ChatGPT to summarize your Storydoc engagement data. For example:
"tell me about the latest analytics in my Storydoc account"
ChatGPT will connect to your Storydoc account, compare recent and previous analytics periods, and return a clear summary — including metrics like sessions, visitors, versions viewed, and stories viewed.
It will also highlight notable events, such as which stories were viewed, who viewed them, and whether activity looks like genuine engagement or an internal test visit.
