Optional content lets one story serve different deals. Mark a slide, block or element as optional. Then either let the sender include or leave it out for each personalized version, or show it automatically when a variable matches a value.
Optional content is available on the Team plan.
For example, show the Enterprise onboarding slide only when Plan tier is Enterprise, or let the sender decide whether to include a photo or an add-ons slide.
Make a block or element optional
Open the ⋮ menu on the block or element, or right-click it.
Choose Make optional.
Pick Simple or Conditional (see below), then click Save changes.

Open the slide's actions menu, from the slide header or its thumbnail.
Choose Show/hide slide → Make optional.

The same menu has Hide on mobile and Hide on desktop for slides that should only appear on one kind of device.
Simple: the sender decides
On the Simple tab, give the content a clear Name and turn on When enabled, sender can decide if this element should be included in the final document.
When someone creates a version, the item appears in the Optional content section of the share dialog with a switch. It's included by default; the sender turns it off to leave it out.

Conditional: a variable decides
On the Conditional tab, set a rule:

If variable: choose a variable used in this story. Add variables from the {x} variable panel first if the list is empty.
Choose is equal or is not equal.
to: type the value to compare with, for example enterprise.
then: choose to show or hide it (for a slide: Show slide or Hide slide).
The rule is checked for every version:
Capital letters and extra spaces don't matter.enterprise matches Enterprise.
Multiselect variables match on any choice. The rule matches if any selected option matches.
Senders can't change the result. Conditional items appear in the share dialog as read-only, for example Shown when {{plan_tier}} equals "enterprise".
Tip: conditions work best with Select variables, because senders pick from a fixed list of values and can't mistype them.

Optional content shows an Optional badge next to it and on its slide thumbnail.

To change or remove the setting, choose Make optional again. To remove it, turn the switch off on the Simple tab and save.
What readers see
Content that is left out or hidden is removed before the story is sent to the reader. It isn't just hidden on screen, so readers can't find it in the page. This applies to the version link and its preview.
